How to Beat Perpetva in Blasphemous

Perpetva in Blasphemous

Perpetva is a boss in Blasphemous who shows up kind of “randomly” and without warning. She’s a sort of winged warrior (I imagine an angel or something along those lines, although she looks more like a demon with that look) who carries a sword and can unleash powerful lightning attacks.

The bad news is that since she appears kind of out of nowhere, she’ll probably catch you off guard and not very well prepared. But other than that, she’s not an especially hard boss, although her lightning is a bit of a pain.

Perpetva Location

You’ll run into Perpetva at the end of the “Mountains of the Endless Dusk“, a mountainous area (not the snowy one) full of demons and strange creatures… as if the other areas had perfectly normal enemies, right?

You can reach this area from Albero by breaking a wall at the very bottom right of the building. Give it a whack with Mea Culpa and that’s it (there are lots of walls like this in Blasphemous). This gives you access to the “Desecrated Cistern”. Once there, head down, take the path to the left, and you’re right where you need to be.

You can also reach the “Desecrated Cistern” from where you fight Ten Piedad, the church boss. You’ll have to take a pretty long detour from there to get to the “Mountains of the Endless Dusk”, but it’s worth it, since you’ll find some items and, of course, earn more Tears of Atonement.

Attack Guide

Perpetva isn’t a hard boss at all. The worst part is running into her by surprise (which will definitely happen) when you’re low on health and Bile Flasks. But hey, if that happens, you’ll be better prepared next time.

It’s also true that this is the fourth boss I’ve faced (counting the Warden of the Silent Sorrow), so I imagine that if someone takes this route first, things will get trickier. If that’s your case, tell us in a comment!

These are Perpetva’s attacks:

  • Summon Lightning: Perpetva summons “X” number of lightning bolts that fall from the sky and, obviously, deal a fair amount of damage. Dodging them is easy, since right before each bolt hits you’ll see a sort of trail showing exactly where it’ll land. Just move away from the trail quickly.
  • Instant Lightning: An attack you’ll just have to eat, because it’s far too fast for you to have the reflexes to dodge it, and I don’t mean it’s a skill issue… it’s practically instant. The boss fires a lightning bolt at your location (I think it only happens when you’re close to her) without any kind of warning, so you’ll have to take the damage and heal when it’s time. You might dodge one by chance, though.
  • Charge: When you see Perpetva come down, it’s because shortly after she’ll charge in a straight horizontal line. To dodge it, jump over her.

Tips

Instant Lightning forces you to end the fight quickly, because otherwise you’ll end up dying, since it’s practically impossible to dodge. So you know what to do: be very aggressive in this fight. After all, between attacks you’ve got a little window to really go to town on the boss.

As for healing, same thing: between attacks is the best moment. Honestly, you won’t have too much trouble with that.

Rewards

Defeating Perpetva gets you the following:

  • Perpetva’s Protection: A Rosary Bead that reduces the lightning damage you take. A bit late, after she’s fried us a few times, but hey… I guess it’ll come in handy later on.

Tres Angustias

Tres Angustias isn’t as fierce as its name suggests, at least until the three of them merge in phase 2 and things get really tough. Here’s where to find it, its attacks and the tips that worked best for me so I didn’t end up falling off the screen.
