How to Beat the Creature from the Deep in Well Dweller

Creature from the Deep in Well Dweller

The Creature from the Deep is another boss in Well Dweller, and as you can see, it once again has a pretty strange look, although this time in a less disturbing and maybe even somewhat comical way. I mean, it looks like a person dressed up as a fish, carrying a massive greatsword made from a tuna skeleton.

Honestly, this boss is pretty easy, at least by the standards this game has set so far. To give you an idea, he only has one phase, and it’s not especially hard.

Still, easy boss or not, the idea is to write a guide for every boss in the game no matter how hard they are, so let’s get to it.

Location: The Docks

Location of the Creature from the Deep and the 3 Door Pearls that open the skull door in The Docks

The Docks is an area you reach from the northeast of GravenValley, but you’ll only be able to get there once you have the Hover ability.

The boss’s exact location is where I’ve marked it in the image with a blue arrow. The thing is, there you’ll find a skull-shaped door with 3 circular slots.

You’ve probably already noticed that I’ve marked 3 other locations on the map with a blue circle. That’s where you’ll find the 3 Door Pearls you need to open that skull-shaped door. Behind it, the boss is waiting for you with his massive greatsword made from the tuna left over from some dinner (he really picked that meat clean).

Attack Guide

This boss only has one phase, so these are all of his attacks for the entire encounter:

  • Front Slash: He swings his sword forward. When the sword hits the ground, it kicks up several chunks of the floor. The best thing to do is dash through him and then hit him from behind; if he catches you a bit far away, it’s better to back off.
  • Spike Toss: He throws a sort of rocks upward in a fan that you’ll just have to dodge. He usually mixes it in with some of his other attacks.
  • Leap + Slash: He takes a big leap toward you and finishes with a sword strike right as he lands. After hitting the ground, he creates the usual energy wave that travels along the floor, which you’ll need to dodge by jumping and hovering in the air.
  • Charge: He charges at you in a straight line while also throwing upward those spikes you’ve already seen in a previous attack. Dash through him when he’s close to you, and then watch out so the spikes don’t hit you when they fall.

Strategy and Tips

In this case I recommend fighting by staying pretty close to him. The idea is to stay as close as you can so you can keep hitting him, and when he attacks, dash through him so you can keep hitting him from behind (you’ll just need to watch out for things like when he jumps, so you can hover, and when he charges, and that’s about it).

As always, remember to keep using the Flaming Vessel. Right when he uses his “Charge” attack is a really good moment, while you’re closing in on him again as the spikes hit the ground. It’s also a good moment to heal.

Trinkets I recommend (the ones I brought to this fight):

  • Silver Ring +2: Significantly increases damage dealt.
  • Golden Needle +2: Creates a circle of spikes around you when you’re below 100% health.
  • Scrap of Fabric +2: Significantly increases attack damage while in the air.
  • Cracked Marble: Slightly increases damage dealt when you’re at full health.
  • Silver Spoon: Briefly surrounds you with a protective barrier when you heal.
  • Pearl Jewelry: Refills your vessel every time you take damage.
  • Hair Pin: I brought it by mistake. Equip something else, since this one isn’t very useful against this boss. Rusty Fork, for example.

Reward

Barge (the old man at The Docks) will let you use the Water Vessels, which let you reach new areas from several points in the south of The Docks.

And that’s it! Did you enjoy the fight against the Creature from the Deep in Well Dweller? Did you find it easier than you expected? Were you intimidated by his massive Tuna Greatsword? Leave a comment!
