How to Beat the Lady of the Drains in Well Dweller

Lady of the Drains in Well Dweller

Today I’m bringing you the guide for the Lady of the Drains in Well Dweller. She’s one of the game’s main bosses and, as her name suggests, you’ll find her in the Drains.

As this game has gotten us used to (and it’s honestly one of the things I’m enjoying most about it), she’s a pretty disturbing boss. Maybe a bit more so this time since, well, she crawls along the walls as the elevator goes down, and in phase 2 of the fight something happens that’s curious, to say the least.

To be honest, this boss isn’t especially hard, at least compared to the previous ones. If she’s giving you trouble, don’t worry: below I’ll go over everything you need to beat her without any problems.

Location: The Drains

Location of the Lady of the Drains

She’s in the Drains, but first things first, it’s important that you get the Wind Ride ability, which you actually get in this same area.

Once you have the ability (it’s the one that lets you fly on rising air currents), your goal is to recover the Elevator Parts, the pieces of the lever that activates the elevator next to the area’s save tent.

All the Elevator Parts are in the Drains (if you explore the whole area, you’ll find them), but you can only reach them with the ability I mentioned. Once you have them all, go back to the save tent and use the lever to activate the elevator and start the boss fight.

Phase 1 Attack Guide

The attacks this boss opens with:

  • Spinning Spikes: The boss surrounds herself with spikes that form 2 circles spinning around her. The smaller circle won’t hit you if you stay on the ground, but you will have to jump over the bigger one. The trick is to jump just a little and get back down quickly, while also making sure the spikes from the small circle don’t hit you.
  • Ball Toss: She throws several spiked balls downward that bounce a bit off the floor. Avoid touching them.
  • Summon Buddies: She summons one of those hammer enemies. The best way to beat it is to hit it from the front, dash through it when it’s about to hit you, and keep hitting it from behind. It’s easy to tell when and where it’ll appear because you’ll see a green summoning circle.
  • Floating Balls: The boss disappears from the scene and suddenly you’ll see a ton of those spiked balls spread across the screen. Pay close attention to what’s below you so you can move into the right spot and not get hit. If at any point you’re boxed in (you can’t move without touching a ball), remember that the dash lets you pass through things without taking damage.

Phase 2

Phase 2 starts once you’ve taken off at least half her health, and she keeps every move from phase 1. There are only 2 changes: first, the boss gets more aggressive, and second, there’s a single new attack that’s very easy to dodge:

  • Spark Drop: Her face splits open and she fires a sort of spark at the ground. When it hits the floor, it creates a pair of energy waves that travel along the ground in both directions, which you’ll need to jump over. When she fires the spark, make sure it doesn’t hit you.

Strategy and Tips

When her head is a bit low, you can hit her from the ground by attacking upward. When you can’t reach her, hit her in the air. Take every chance to attack as much as you can in between dodges, but always put survival first.

Trinkets I recommend:

  • Silver Ring: Slightly increases damage dealt.
  • Scrap of Fabric: Slightly increases attack damage while in the air.
  • Melted Candle: Makes you invincible for 2 seconds after you heal.
  • Golden Needle: Creates a circle of spikes around you when you’re at 25% health or less.

And that’s it! Were you expecting a fight on the Drains elevator in Well Dweller? Did this boss give you trouble? What did you think when her face split in two?! Leave a comment!
